To determine the fogging characteristics of automotive interior trim of textiles, plastic or leather. Fogging is the residue deposited on interior glass of chemicals released from materials under specific temperature conditions. The 4-position chamber contains 4 x 400ml pyrex beakers, ground top and bottom, situated within individual heading blocks and subject to thermoelectric cooling. Trim samples are placed in the beakers under a retaining ring and the beakers are sealed with silicone seals and standardized glass plates clamped by a cover plate. the samples are subjected to accurate cycles of heating and cooling after which the fogging on the glass plates is assessed by use of a standard glossmeter.
